Holiday Food Switcheroonie

39109c.jpgAlright ladies…if you are anything like me, I love me a good slice of cake and maybe some egg nog on the side.  MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm…eggnog. 

But-did you know-just 1 slice of gingerbread cake and 1 8oz. glass of eggnog is…are you ready….606 calories and 31 g. total fat….yea…i know…can you believe it.

But-did you also know-that if you did a switeroonie to 1 slice of angel food cake and 1 8 oz. glass of hot chocolate, it is….152 calories and 3 g. total fat….yea…i know…i can’t believe the difference either.

Tales From The Scales Progress Report

talesseptemberbannerlong.jpgSo here we are again.  This is my first check in.  I weighed myself and I weigh 305.  I guess that is a loss.  But my exercising fell by the waistside.  It is just so cold out.  That is my excuse….lousy excuse.  I have thought about my lack of exercise all week….everyday infact.  I really need to buckle down and just do it.  It is not like I have never exercised before.  And it isn’t like I am out there for very long…I can only do about 10-15 minutes until I feel like I am going to pass out.  But this weekend I think I am going to get the awesome exercise bike from my parents and put it in our living room….lets see what kind of excuse I can come up with then.  But go and support our other ladies in their weight loss struggles.  Good luck and I will see you in our elastic sized blogosphere.

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

dsci0141.jpgHere we are.  Another tackle it tuesday.  I am alittle late, sorry.  We had shots for everyone today.  Let’s do the math…4 for my oldest…3 for the little lady…3 each for the twins.  Yea…you could say I tackled something today.  I had been dreading this day for several weeks now.  And, to top it all off, today was the very first time I took all 4 of them out into town.  Yea…the very first.  The appointment was at 9 AM.  I started getting everyone ready at 6:45 in the morning.  We still were late.  Now I know why I have never taken all of them out before.  The shots took about 3 hours because we were late, then I needed to do about an hour of paperwork, then they needed to find out which shots all the kids had, then we had to talk about each one, then we finally did the shots.  It was one of my harder days as a mother.  So, due to the crappy tackle tuesday I had, I am showing you Christmas pictures…because I love christmas. 

The top picture is at our town Christmas last week…this is the library…they had one of the best cookies spread…yea…I did put alot of cookies in my pocket.  Next year…I am bringing a baggie.  The bottom picture is of the Cookie Cutter Ornaments we made over the weekend.  If you want to see each one close up, you can check out one of my other blogs The Momdum Chronicles.  They are lovely…and easy.  So I guess I have tackled enough for the day.  Now…where did I leave that nap…oh…there it is…..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…oh…hold on….go check out my other tackling heros…….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The Next Big Workout is…

1exerciser1.jpgICE PICKING– yea, you heard me.  My hubby is a welder and so he got romantical and welded me a 20+ lbs, 5 ft tall ice pick.  Yea…it has become a battle between me and the ice pick–the bastard is winning.  This thing is kicking my butt.  I joined this challenge just last week.  I did the ice pick workout from the devil Wed., Thurs., and Fri.  I could barely lift my arms and my butt hurt like a son of a donkey.  You must try it.

I may not be making much headroom on my driveway and sidewalks (i have chipped about a total of 4 steps and 2 square feet of it), but HOLY COW…can I feel it in my glutius really maximus!

Burn 100 calories by…

I did a post earlier this week about some sweet treats you can have for only 100 calories…yummy.

Now, here are some simple ways to burn that 100 calories off so it never happened…except for the yummy.

  • Take a 10 minute jog.
  • Climb up and down some stairs for 15 minutes.
  • Ice skate for 20 minutes.
  • Vacuum your carpets and mop your floors for 25 minutes (I wish it only took 25 minutes).
  • Lift light weights for 1/2 hour.
  • Play catch with your kids for 35 minutes.
  • Go grocery shopping for 40 minutes.

And most of these things I know you are already doing.  So have a light beer and vacuum, baby!

Tales From The Scales–just joined

talesseptemberbannerlong.jpgSo this is my first Tales from the scales.  I will admit it…I am overweight.  Alot.  If you go by my fat percentage-I am morbidly obese.  If you go by the scale-I am 310…ouch.  How did that happen?

Well, when my hubby and I met, I was 185 and smokin.  Then I got pregnant and I used it as an excuse to eat all the time and stop exercising–which I did for an hour everyday.  I gained 60lb. with that pregnancy.  I slowly kept gaining.  Then I got pregnant.  I didn’t really gain alot of weight.  I was afraid of just getting too big.  Then I got pregnant again–with twins.  This time I had to gain weight or else (that is what the doctor said).  So now, that gets me to 310…again..ouch.

I don’t mind being overweight.  But I am embarrassed to go out in public with how big I am.  And my hubby knows I am embarrassed.  He says he doesn’t care how big I am but he also knows how much happier I was when I weighed less.  He wants me to be happy.  I want to be happy.  So I guess that is why I kind of started this blog and joined this challenge. 

And what am I going to do to get myself back on track…gee…I really don’t know.  Maybe:

  1. Eat less
  2. Measure what I eat
  3. Start a food diary
  4. Exercise everyday
  5. Get my parent’s kick butt exercise bike (they like to call it their clothes hanger), put it in our living room and go nuts on that sucker

Yea…maybe I could do those things first and go from there.  But in the meantime, I think I will go check out the other people who have accepted this challenge.  Why don’t you join me!

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Yea…we got snow…covered with sleet…packed with ice.  I know…I know…we did get it on Saturday.  But snow is just so cold.  Well, it is. 

Anyway, it is what I have to tackle today.  I guess I am hoping that due to lazy and above 30 temperatures, the ice will just break apart and I can simply shove it aside.  My hubby is (hopefully) going to get some salt so we don’t go sliding on our butts.  I will do it.  I have to.  I know you want to see a picture of the finished product.  It will be good exercise, right?  Isn’t that what this particular blog is about…living a fantastically full, fat, chunky, funky life. 

Snow was more fun when I was a kid.

Family Fun Time

If any of you are fans of my other blog Kerith’s Korner of Momdum, you may have noticed the Family Fun Friday as disappeared. It is still around but I had a brain storm about it. Then we kept getting sick and it kind of took a back seat.

I have so much fun doing the activities with my kids that I thought that maybe I would try to start a Meme about having Family Fun Time with stuff found on the internet.

There is so much on the internet, that most of the time, a person doesn’t really know where to go for kid friendly and fun stuff. So every week or 2 I am going to give out Family Fun Time assignments, so to speak, on Kerith’s Korner of Momdum. I will give a few web sites concerneing the subject matter at hand. Then we all will go and do our Family Fun Time. Then you can E-Mail (cathicollins@gmail.com) with your story and pictures and links to your blog. I will post them and then give out another great assignment.

Feel free to take any banners I post. I will make more later and post them.
